2016 Toyota Prius Oil Service Light Reset
The following guide will show you how to reset the oil service warning light on the 2016 Toyota Prius.
You may have found yourself at the point where your 4th Generation Toyota Prius XW50 needs a total oil change to ensure the engine runs smoothly.
This has become very apparent because the display that sits in front of you as the driver is flashing up with the message “Maintenance Required“.
Essentially this is a mileage-based indicator that has recognized that you have done a set number of miles in your Prius (usually 10,000 miles with synthetic oil) since the last oil change.
Doing an oil change yourself is on the easier end of DIY automobile maintenance – once completed though you may find the Maintenance Required light still illuminated on your dashboard.
This is not only annoying but can also harm the resale value of your Prius, putting off potential buyers.
To reset the oil maintenance warning light in the XW50 4th generation Prius you can do the following easy step:
- Park up somewhere safe and switch the car OFF completely.
- Now turn the car on without starting the engine using the power button – the hybrid system can come on at the same time which is fine.
- Using the directional buttons on the Prius steering wheel switch sideways to find the GEAR icon.
- Then using the UP and DOWN arrows on the directional pad you now need to select VEHICLE SETTINGS and press SELECT.
- Now use the directional pad to find the MAINTENANCE SYSTEM option and press SELECT.
- In the next menu select the option for OIL MAINTENANCE.
- Change the option to YES and press SELECT to complete the whole process and reset the oil maintenance in your Toyota Prius XW50.
